米NVIDIA（GPUおよびAI向けアクセラレータ、計算プラットフォームの開発で世界をリードする半導体大手）が、ソフトウェア開発の自動化を手掛ける新興AI企業「Reflection AI」への追加出資、あるいは技術ライセンスと人材採用を伴う買収に向けて協議を進めていることが明らかになりました。英Financial Timesが関係者の証言として報じたもので、早ければ数週間以内の合意を目指して交渉が行われています。
評価額250億ドルの有力スタートアップとの交渉
Reflection AIは、元Google DeepMindの研究者であるMisha Laskin氏とIoannis Antonoglou氏が2024年に設立した注目株です。NVIDIAはすでに同社へ8億米ドルを投じた筆頭戦略投資家であり、同社CEOのLaskin氏は2026年4月、プレマネー評価額250億米ドルでの資金調達を進めていると公表していました。同社は最近、オープンウェイトの自律コーディングモデル「Beam」をリリースし、中国のDeepSeekやKimiなど低価格な競合に対する対抗姿勢を示していました。
独占禁止法審査の回避を狙う「アクハイア」形式の模索
今回の報道で特に注目されるのは、株式の完全買収だけでなく「技術ライセンス契約とコア人材の移籍」を組み合わせたアクハイア（acqui-hire）方式が有力視されている点です。米連邦取引委員会（FTC）や司法省（DOJ）、欧州規制当局は、大手テック企業による有望AIスタートアップの囲い込みに対して独占禁止法の観点から厳しい監視を行っています。MicrosoftがInflection AIで行ったような人材・ライセンス取得モデルを踏襲することで、長期化する当局の審査プロセスを回避する狙いがあるとみられます。
分析と今後の展望
NVIDIAはAIハードウェア市場で圧倒的なシェアを握る一方、自社製ハードウェアの能力を最大限に引き出すソフトウェア・モデル層の強化を最優先課題に掲げています。Reflection AIの高度なエージェント技術を自社スタックに取り込めば、開発者エコシステムにおける優位性をさらに固めることができます。協議はまだ流動的であり合意に至らない可能性もありますが、ハードウェア覇者がモデル層への進出を強める動きとして注視されます。
