米Appleは2026年6月29日、iOS/iPadOS 26.5.2、macOS Tahoe 26.5.2、およびSafari 26.5.2の提供を開始した。本アップデートは、通常のように次期マイナーアップデート（iOS 26.6など）まで待たずに、予定を前倒しして早期リリースされた。Appleがロイター（Reuters）に明かしたところによると、AIの普及によってサイバー攻撃者がハッキングツールを開発する速度が加速している現実に適応するため、脆弱性の修正から展開までの期間を大幅に短縮する必要があると判断したという。
1. 37件の脆弱性を前倒しで修正、AIによる発見も
今回のアップデートでは、iOS/iPadOSおよびmacOS Tahoeでそれぞれ37件、旧macOS向けSafariで31件のCVE番号付き脆弱性が修正された。主な修正内容はHTMLレンダリングエンジン「WebKit」に関連するもので、悪意あるWebコンテンツ処理時に発生するメモリ破損や情報漏洩などの不具合に対処している。特にWebKitの脆弱性のうち4件（CVE-2026-43707など）は、防御側がAnthropicの「Claude」やOpenAIの「Codex Security」といったAIツールを用いて発見したものである。
2. カーネルの脆弱性やバックポート対応
WebKit以外にも、カーネル、libxslt、WebRTC、IOGPUFamilyといった多様なコンポーネントが修正された。カーネル関連では、悪意あるアプリがカーネルメモリを破損させたりシステムをクラッシュさせたりできる3件のバグが修正され、うち2件は研究者のHyunwoo Kim氏によって報告された。これらの修正は、すでに開発中のベータ版（iOS 26.6など）で提供されていたものを、既存の安定版に向けてバックポートする形で早期配信されている。
3. AIによる開発加速へ対抗するリリースプロセスの変革
従来、Appleは大きなセキュリティ修正であっても次のOSバージョンに統合してリリースする傾向があった。しかし、AIツールは防御側のバグ発見を支援する一方で、攻撃者側のエクスプロイトコード開発も劇的に高速化させている。Appleは、脆弱性が公表されてから実際に悪用されるまでのタイムラグが圧縮されていることを懸念し、今回の早期配信を決定した。現時点でこれらの脆弱性が実際に悪用された証拠はないとしている。
今回の前倒しリリースは、AI時代におけるセキュリティ対策の速度戦を象徴している。攻撃者と防御者の双方がAIを活用する中、ベンダーにはより迅速なパッチ配布が求められている。Appleは、脆弱性発見後の対応プロセスをさらに短縮する方針を示しており、ユーザーに対しても速やかなアップデートの適用を強く推奨している。

Apple Releases iOS 26.5.2 With Security Fixes
Apple today released iOS 26.5.2 and iPadOS 26.5.2, minor updates to the iOS and iPadOS 26 operating systems that came out in September. iOS 26.5.2 comes a month after the launch of iOS 26.5.1, an update that added a charging fix for the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models. iOS 26.5.2 and iPadOS 26.5.2 can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
