NVIDIAとガラス・光学物理大手のCorning Incorporatedは、次世代AIインフラを支えるために必要な先進的光コネクティビティ・ソリューションの米国における生産を大幅に拡大する、複数年の技術・商業提携を発表しました。

Corningは、AIファクトリーの構築に伴う需要急増に対応するため、米国内の光コネクティビティ製造能力を10倍に拡大し、光ファイバー生産能力を50%以上引き上げます。この拡大に伴い、ノースカロライナ州とテキサス州に3つの最先端製造施設を建設し、3,000人以上の新たな高待遇雇用を創出する計画です。

現代の膨大なAIワークロードは数千基以上のGPUを連携させるため、超高速データ転送を可能にする高性能光ファイバーやフォトニクスがAIインフラに不可欠となっています。NVIDIAのCEOジェンセン・フアン氏は、「Corningと共に光の速度で知能が移動するAIインフラの基盤を構築する」と述べ、米国のサプライチェーンと製造業の活性化をアピールしました。
