VS Code向けGitHub Copilotが機能強化：意味検索・/chronicle・カスタムエージェント対応

GitHubは2026年5月6日、VS Code向けGitHub Copilotのアップデートを発表した。新機能として、ワークスペース内の意味に基づく検索や、リポジトリ全体を対象としたgrep形式のクエリ実行が可能な意味検索が追加された。また、実験的機能の「/chronicle」により、過去のチャット履歴や触れたファイル、参照したPRを振り返ることも可能になった。

さらにエージェント機能が強化され、チャット内のインラインDiff、ブラウザタブの共有、開いているターミナルへの読み書きアクセスに対応した。これにより、対話型スクリプトの実行などエージェントの処理能力が向上している。

あわせて、特定のタスク（テスト作成やドキュメント化など）向けに構成されるカスタムエージェント（.agent.mdファイルで定義）の導入や、エンタープライズ環境でのガバナンスフレームワークも整備された。管理者は、エージェント用ポリシーの設定やファイアウォールの利用が可能となる。
